This is about the easiest of all our smoothie recipes to make. It’s also so delicious that it’s hard to believe it could be good for you too!

I was thinking while I made this that here is a healthy breakfast that can be made in less time than it takes a pop tart to warm up in the toaster!  These smoothie recipes really do eliminate the main excuse for not eating healthy.  They all take less time to prepare than junk food!

Almonds are a “brain food” to help keep you sharp.  They provide protein and they are also known for helping to control your blood sugar and help ward off that mid-day slump!

Some notes on this.  If you don’t have almond milk, you can use water and add more almonds provided your blender is powerful enough to pulverize them.  I use a NutriBullet which does an amazing job of handling nuts, carrots, celery, beets and other foods most blenders just can’t handle.  My brother uses a VitaMix and swears by it for the same reasons.  See our recipe for how to make your own almond milk.

If you’re using a lower powered blender, you can use a few tablespoons of almond butter instead of the fresh almonds.

Here is a tip too for your bananas.  If you find they are getting over-ripe before you can eat them all, peel them, put them in freezer bags and freeze them.  Then pull them out as needed for your smoothies!
