Refreshing Strawberry Kiwi Rooibos Tea Smoothie
This insanely healthy smoothie is one of the most delicious among our smoothie recipes. It has a light fruity summery taste with notes of vanilla to round off the flavor.
Rooibos tea is known for a long and impressive list of health benefits It has 50% more antioxidants than green tea to help mop up the free radicals in your body, reduce inflammation and thus help prevent cellular damage. Research shows it helps boost the master antioxidant in your body, glutathione, and helps with detoxification.
Rooibos tea also contains aspalathin, found only in rooibos tea, and nothofagin. These are two polyphenols that have been shown to have powerful anti-inflamatory benefits and cancer fighting powers.
There are too many health benefits to list them all but then include helping with bone health, weight loss, digestion, and so much more.
Brew the rooibos tea on the strong side. If you can’t find the Strawberry Kiwi Rooibos Tea blend, regular rooibos tea will work. The quinoa is optional. It’s a complete plant based protein and nutrition booster so I add it to most of my smoothies. The banana is added more to thicken the smoothie than for flavor. It you don’t mind your smoothie being a little less thick, try omitting the banana.
A light, fruity smoothie that is extremely nutritious
- 1 cup Strawberry Kiwi Rooibos Tea brewed and cooled
- 5 ounces vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 to 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1 kiwi peeled
- 1/4 cup quinoa optional
- 1/2 banana optional
- Combine ingredients in a high powered blender and blend about 60 seconds or more until smooth.
Notes: Soaking the quinoa overnight in some water will give you a smoother texture when you make this smoothie.
