High Protein Smoothie

This is a delicious non-sweet detox smoothie that is loaded with healthy ingredients. You can make it in just moments.

You can use either spinach or arugula.  From what I’ve read arugula has more detox qualities but either is good.  The arugula will make it a bit on the spicier side though. 

To punch up the protein, add 1/4 cup or more of quinoa.  It’s a complete plant based protein and I feel it’s better and less expensive than protein powders.  For a smoother texture you can soften the quinoa in water overnight and make this up in the morning.

Time saving tip: Some mornings every second counts.  While it’s best to drink smoothies right after making, you can make it up the night before and pour it into a mason jar glass.  Screw on the lid and refrigerate for an instant healthy breakfast in the morning.

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 banana
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh spinach or arugula
  • 1/8 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup or more quinoa
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup purified water
  1. Slice avocado in half an scoop the meat into the blender jar
  2. Add remaining ingredients and blend about 60 seconds until the texture is smooth and creamy
