Cranberry, Banana, Date Smoothie with Strawberries and Ginger
I know. I need a better name for this smoothie. It’s way too long. Maybe something like Tropical Delight Smoothie recipe since the ingredients are tropical. Well, at least the bananas and dates are.
Regardless of the name, this healthy smoothie is utterly delicious. Even the kids will probably drink it. Cranberries are one of the most overlooked superfoods there are. You can punch up the health benefits even more by adding in a bit of arugula, some flax seed and/or some spinach. The flavor is strong and rich enough that the greens won’t significantly alter the taste much. Click the links to read the health benefits of some of these ingredients.
I used to use a juicer and make fresh juice. Then I got a NutriBullet and found that it’s much easier to use and more versatile. Where a juicer could never deal with soft fruits and veggies like avocado, strawberries, dates, or make a smoothie, I find the NutriBullet can pulverize carrots, celery and other vegetables well enough to make juice. Also since it doesn’t strip the fiber from the fruits and vegetables it’s healthier. It’s now my most used kitchen appliance!
A delicious healthy smoothie you can whip up in minutes to give you lasting energy and nutrition.
- 3/4 cup fresh cranberries
- 4 - 6 fresh strawberries
- 3/4 cup dates
- 1/4 teaspoon chopped ginger to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 orange peeled. Reserve peel
- 1 banana
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup purified water
- Break a small amount of the orange rind into small chunks. Add it and all remaining ingredients to the NutriBullet and blend about 60 seconds until smooth.
Notes: You don't need to mince the ginger. The NutriBullet will pulverize it for you. You can also add some arugula, parsley, spinach or other greens to give it a detox boost.
