I know.  You wouldn’t dream of having Thanksgiving dinner without some sweet potato and yam dishes. Here is a delicious baked candied yams recipe for you to try this holiday season.

  • medium sized yams
  • tbsp  salted butter
  • tsp  ground cinnamon
  • 1/2  tsp  ground nutmeg
  • 1/4  tsp  ground clove
  • 1/4  tsp  ground ginger
  • cup  granulated sugar
  • 1/4  cup  brown sugar
  • tbsp  pure vanilla extract not imitation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Wash, peel and slice yams into 1/2 thick slicees
  3. Place the yams into a 9x13 bake dish.
  4. Melt butter in a medium sized pot. Sprinkle in the white & brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove.
  5. Turn the heat off, mix and add in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the candied mixture over the yams, coating all of the yams as much as possible.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the yams and baste them with the candied mixture, then re-cover and bake them for another 15-20 minutes.
  9. Let them rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
